"Buddy mother" model is a component under Assam's innovation namely "Saubhagya Plus", of National Health Mission Assam being rolled out under the stewardship of Dr. M. S. Lakshmi Priya, IAS, Mission Director, NHM. Different initiatives are taken under "Saubhagya Plus" to strengthen facility and community level response aiming improved maternal and child health. The "Buddy mother" model is a trio consists of two PW (irrespective of their pregnancy period) and a lactating mother (as mentor) coming together, aiming to ensure interpersonal communication among three so that any doubt(s) of the PW can be answered by other PW or the lactating mother. They discuss range of issues of their concern and find a way out, which helps care providers to know about them and then to act as per need. This also helps in proper tracking of each case till end. Closeness among members help to move in a positive direction
